Thievery 1.3 Patch

New Features:

  • New maps:
    • Th-Warehouse - Sir Giles' Warehouse on the edge of town, known for being trusted to look after even the most expensive items. With the top floor of his house currently being converted into a personal vault area, now might be an ideal time to have a look around...
    • Th-Stronghold - Lord Denheim is at war, his strong stone keep heavily guarded, with the doors bolted tight. With his troop's campfires and tents pitched around his stronghold, getting inside might be tricky...
    • Th-Bourgeois - updated with a larger city area, more guards and better balanced objectives.
    • Th-Korman - given a thorough overhaul, new crypts, sewers and graveyards!
    • Th-Aquatone - updated version featuring improved balance and a sketchmap.
  • New models:

  • New thief equipment:
    • Scouting orb
    • Decoy arrow
  • New guard taunt packs, with bindable team speech.
  • Players can crouch and uncrouch on ladders and vines.
  • The location of the supply chest is shown on the map.
  • KO'd guards will wake up after 5 minutes, or if frobbed by another guard player (thieves, hide bodies!).
  • Player scores updated midgame (every minute) for CSports.net ranking compatibility.
  • Players can open and close doors while holding something.
  • New forced balance that ensures there can't be more thieves than guards in the game.
  • New keybind: Activate inventory item.
  • New tickbox in player setup: Frob activates inventory item
  • Thieves can pick up the supply chest, so can guards even when it is smashed up.

Balance changes:

  • Only 10 points awarded per KO.
  • Mine damage increased from 50 to 70.
  • Increased crossbow bolt damage from 25 to 30.
  • Increased the price of broadheads to 20 each.
  • Thief starts off with only 5 broadheads.
  • Slowed down the thief sword swings.
  • Removed the thief's bobbing idle animation so you can hide better.
  • Thieves move 10% faster than guards.
  • Thieves start with 2 vine arrows for free.
  • Thieves get an additional water arrow for free.
  • The non-offensive arrow types can be fired silently.
  • Water arrow splash noise is quieter.
  • Thieves get 10 seconds invisibility at spawn.
  • Guards can destroy invisibility potions.
  • A heavy overhead smash gets through a sword block.

Improved Thiefmatch:

  • Each player has a limited number of lives.
  • Points in thiefmatch awarded for the following (in order of priority):
    • Being the last thief left alive.
    • Killing other thieves.
    • Doing damage to other thieves.
  • Radar added to help locate and kill other thieves.
  • Can buy new equipment midgame.
  • Collecting loot midgame gives you more money to spend.
  • Completing objectives gives you bonus loot to spend.
  • Flashbombs will blind other thieves in thiefmatch.
  • Whistler, trops and mines added to thiefmatch shop
  • Can heavy blackjack other thieves in thiefmatch.
  • New introductory message when the game starts.
  • Scoreboard shows lives and kills.
  • Can fall on other thieves' heads to knock them out

Misc/Bugfixes:

  • Made the join buttons not respond to the keyboard so you can type without fear of accidently joining a team.
  • Misc AI improvements.
  • Loot objects can no longer be moved by dropping other objects on them.
  • Made the V menu always close when a level changes.
  • Altered some crossbow bringup/dropdown anims slightly to try and get rid of the up/down stuff.
  • Updated version of Th-Asylum included which should fix the nasty skybox bug.
  • Fixed a mine/whistler exploit.
  • Misc improvements to the loot respawning code.
  • Fixed a bug where using the next and previous weapon binds when not spawned would cause a crash.
  • Stopped the AI from hurting themselves when they walk into stationary crates.
  • Fixed a crack arrow bug where the cloud would spawn right on top of them, but they wouldn't get cracked.
  • Reading a scroll/book or using a scouting orb no longer makes you stand up.
  • Some extra checks in the whistler to prevent the bug where it stays lit all the time.
  • Loadouts check item limits so people can't haxor the ini files.
  • Flare arrows go out when you pick up the arrow.
  • No longer get double the starting inventory in Thiefmatch and Coop.
  • Spectators can't be set on fire.
  • Annoying noisy lever on Aquatone can only be triggered once every 16 seconds
  • Fixed "ventilition" spelling mistake that's been in Thievery since 1996 and no-one has ever noticed until now.
  • Put in some fixes so people can't make whistlers and the chest float by throwing them on their head
  • Mines, caltrops and whistlers take into account leaning when you deploy them
  • Dead guard's mines are no longer deadly to guards
  • Fixed the wallhack cheat. Shame on all you wallhackers out there, may you burn in hell for your crimes.
  • Rats can't change their name to get round the dead to live chat.
  • Normal UT taunts no longer work (stops people doing that swimming thing).
  • Follow cam view shows the timelimit.
  • Breaking your lockpicks no longer destroys all your copies, just 1.
  • Can no longer frob objective items through walls.

Technical:

  • ThThiefExec.txt and ThGuardExec.txt get executed when you spawn/pick teams so you can easily have custom binds for each team.
  • Added a custom starting inventory function to ThieveryGameSettings for mappers who want players to start with different equip.
  • Recoded the oldest function in Thievery to be much neater (the thief transparency stuff), also implemented small speed up here.
  • Optimised bandwidth usage of various things.
  • Improved efficiency of the particle system.
  • Fixed all the shops so that custom mappers can add more than 8 items to their custom shop.
  • Server keeps a count of thief wins and guard wins in ThieveryMod.ini.
  • Included TheDan's repairable object package.
  • Tidied up the bow projectile selection code to better support custom arrow types made by mappers.
